The established list of the 25 best Greek islands for travelers was published by the Times of London. Alonissos of the northern Sporades is located at the top.
Journalist Dana Facaros urges British travelers to choose new, alternative destinations in Greece. Among them is Alonissos which offers authentic experiences away from the crowds and have much better accessibility.
Alonissos tops the list, with the first underwater museum in Greece. Known to many as the largest natural water park in Europe. Next are the romantic Samos, Kythira of another era, Aegina with its slow rhythms, the special Ikaria, the impressive Meganisi, the picturesque Spetses, Ithaca of Odysseus, the green Thassos, Ios with the positive energy, Skopelos as the island of Mamma Mia, the secret Tzia, the pine-covered Lefkada, the unique Lesvos and Milos with different natural landscapes.
The list is completed by Tinos gastronomy, the “butterfly of the Aegean” Astypalea, Karpathos with water sports, Sifnos with the harmony it emits, the enchanting Skyros, the shocking Hydra, the Paxos that transport you to another dimension, the N to the dream island of Lord Byron, Halki with its simplicity and Kalymnos for the climbing fields.
“Alonissos with its authenticity and untouched natural beauty fascinates travelers with special interests, all over the world. “The emergence of the first underwater museum and our new initiative for the performance of underwater weddings place Greece on the” map “of world diving tourism”, says the mayor of Alonissos, Petros Vafinis.
