The most famous and impressive waterfalls in Pelion are located on the “Waterfall Trail”, which connects Chania with Makrirrachi, with the most famous being the Poros Waterfalls. The area offers a unique natural landscape with running waters, rapid waterfalls and natural pools.
The Main Waterfalls & Locations
Poros Waterfalls (Makrirrachi): Formed by the large and small waterfalls of Poros in the Kavouria area.
These are deep, wide ponds with crystal clear, crystal clear waters, ideal for refreshing dips in the summer.
Tympanou Waterfalls (Kissos): An equally beautiful but lesser-known alternative location with waterfalls and waterfalls near the village of Kissos.
How to Get There (Access)
There are two main ways to access the Poros Pedestals, depending on your hiking experience. From the Waterfalls Trail (For Hikers): The route starts from Chania, Pelion (at an altitude of 1,190 meters). The trail follows the stream through dense vegetation and encounters successive waterfalls.
From Karavoma, short / easy route. If you want to avoid the long hike from Chania, you can follow the rural road from the Karavoma junction (Volos-Zagora-Makryrrachi). This route saves about 3.5 kilometers of walking
Useful Tips – Suitable Season: Spring offers the greatest water flow, but summer is the best period if you want to swim, as the waters remain very cool.
Equipment: Stable sports or hiking shoes are essential, as some areas around the stream may be slippery.
