Metaxochori (or Retsiani) is located in Kissavos and is very close to Agia. The Metaxochori is a traditional settlement with many beautiful houses, a beautiful square that is suitable for eating with the tavern is located in the plane trees and the beautiful climate in the green of Kissavos. Some of the sights in Metaxochori are the steep cliffs of Roman and Hellenistic times, its mansions inside the village, such as the 19th-century Hadzichimali-Agorovitsa mansion, the house of the Vazia brothers, dates back to 1871, the School of Girls of Hieroteria (19th century), which hosts important folklore exhibits the Cultural Center, the old Aqueduct (8 vaults in the Monastery of Agios Efstathios) and the village churches, such as the Ionic Church Aghia Paraskevi you will find it as you walk up the main road, Agios Georgios chuch, Agios Nikolaos church, the Monastery Efstathiou and beautifully located the Prophet Elias church which offers panoramic views to Metaxochori and the surrounding mountains. Definitely worth a trip to Profitis Ilias to admire the view and to stop in the small square there beside a large platan and the tap that has cool water. It is also said that in 1765 and according to some ecclesiastical books Kosmas Aetolos passed from Metaxochori and spoke to the inhabitants of the village and at this point a tree grew between a rock.
One of the major mansions in Metaxochori is also the mansion of the Swiss Eugene Favre built in 1876. It is an impressive mansion with each floor reaching 300 square meters but unfortunately has been abandoned.
