Agios Dimitrios is a mountain village of exquisite natural beauty in East Pelion, and specifically in the Mouresi municipality. The amazing view, towards the Aegean Sea and the verdant vegetation will mesmerize you as soon as you get there.
Familiar characteristic of this village, as of all in Pelion, is the preserved picturesque character. All around you will discover traditional houses and mansions, while the dense network of cobbled paths will draw you into lovely walks. In the well preserved old squares you will enjoy relaxing moments and get refreshed from the traditional fountains, while your walks along the vibrant colored churches and chapels of the village, will travel you in past ages.
In the area of where Agios Dimitrios is today, existed many monasteries around which, settlements had developed. One of these old monasteries gave its name to the village and at its location the homonymous church of Agios Dimitrios (1934) was built. This imposing metropolitan church is the biggest of Eastern Pelion.
Of course, the village features many other religious monuments: The church of Agiou Georgiou (St.George), the chapel of Panagia (Virgin Mary) which is said to built over the ruins of an ancient temple, the church of Agiou Ioanni Tou Theologou (St. John the Theologian) celebrated every May with a traditional festival and the church of Metamorphosis tou Sotira (Transfiguration of Jesus). During the celebration of the Transfiguration, every August a three-day festival is organized with traditional music, songs and dances.
One of the most beautiful squares of the village is the paved square at the settlement of Xirovrisi (Dry fountain), where you can rest and get refreshed from the homonymous covered fountain of 1899. Also visit the renovated mansion “Salta” which operates as a cultural center organizing various art exhibitions.

A great advantage for the village is the short distance from the cosmopolitan sea village of Agios Ioannis. Agios Ioannis is built on the lower side and serves as the port village of Agios Dimitrios.
