In Old Alonissos (or Palio Horio or Old Town) you walk away after park your vehicle in the parking space or the entrance of the village where it stops and the bus for doing Patitiri- Old Alonissos route. Old Alonissos was the capital of Alonissos, it was the largest settlement and the administrative center of the island. The locals call it Liadromia because of the thousands of commercial navigation routes passing by the island. It is built in a location that offered the greatest protection from pirates and other threats and lies on top of a hill and offers visibility in all directions.
The houses in the old town are built next to each other to serve as a boundary for the fort with only two entrances.
A large earthquake was made in Alonissos in 1965 and the country suffered major damage and so many residents moved to Patitiri, the harbor village where ferry linked to Volos, Skiathos, Skopelos, Thessaloniki, Mantoudi and Kimi.
