The mountainous area of Karditsa prefecture is best known for Lake Plastira, where it was most developed. Of course, in the mountainous area of Karditsa there are other beauties that are certainly less well-known. Among them, Fanari, Kanalia, Drakotrypa, Argithea, Agrafa and etc. In addition to Lake Stefaniada, which is not so well-known, there is another seasonal pond that is not so well-known. This is Lake “Loutsa”, which is located at an altitude of approximately 1,900 meters on the slope of Karavas peak.
Clear waters, snow for several months of the year and an endless view make up a magical landscape that is worth visiting.
To get to the lake, follow the road to Mouzaki Karditsa, Pefkofyto, Agios Nikolaos and then turn right onto a dirt road. Then, following the mountain path below Karava on foot and after a 45-minute – 1-hour climb and an altitude difference of about 250 m. you will find yourself at the magical pond that is at its lowest point at this time of year. You can also see the instructions from the Karditsa Climbing club for more details. In general, to understand approximately where the lake is located, it is located in the mountainous massif northwest of the village of Vlasi.

During the summer months, the pond gradually loses its waters since its enrichment is made by the melting of snow at the higher points and which end up in this basin before overflowing and flowing downhill through a stream. If you decide to visit it, the ideal period is spring and the summer months (if there is still water). Of course, be careful of the sheepdogs that accompany the flocks.
