Monastery of St. Gerasimos Makrynitsas Pelion
The monastery is located 17 km from Volos and at an altitude of 750 meters. It was originally a cell for prayer built by St. Gerasimos and in 1741 it was built a temple in his honor. The monastery eventually established in 1795 with the first church in 1741 and a two-storey building of 1795.
Worth seeing the wooden temple construction of 1808 and silver plated icons of St. Gerasimos of the 18th century.
Monastery Flamouriou
Founded in 1583 by Holy Simeon a monk in Agio Oros, has a fortress architecture and is encircled by cells and lost in beech forests. The remarkable architecture catholic church is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior. Access to the monastery is made either from Volos-Melissiatika-Kerasia-Ano Kerasia or Zagora-Puri-Ovria-Kokkinogeia.
