This summer (2015) we decided one afternoon to go to Gerakas located in the northern part of the island of Alonissos.
So we started from Patitiri and headed to our well-known route, that is the road that passes intersections with all major beaches. Follow the signs initially to Agios Dimitrios and later to Gerakas.
This is because some time is the road splits in Gerakas and Agios Dimitrios. From this point onwards will feel one ‘loneliness” on the road, the landscape now becomes wilder and the road has several patches in some places. You will also see your mobile signal is missing and come back. Leave your cell phone and enjoy the view in many places that you are offered to the island of Peristera that will see it for much of the path opposite. Do not hesitate to stop where you want and do necessary clicks!
Also a number of street signs will find blue signs which inform you about hiking trails. Stop and get off the car / motorbike to see all screened (we reported here for the hiking trails in Alonissos).
The route is enough and the road although the few puddles are all asphalt in some places steep in some downhill, especially as we approach the Gerakas. The pebbled beach of Gerakas will find sunbeds and 7-8, and a canteen. At the edge of the harbor you will find a sign telling you about the islands of the marine park of Alonissos. Generally boats are enough and quiet and calm excess Gerakas! Also if you are approached by any dog is not afraid of the owner of the canteen and will not hurt you!
Duration: 35 minutes. Preferred hour afternoon to sunset!
