It’s best to enter from the eastern entrance because from the West entrance you will come across with many passenger ships that may cause difficulties. It has been characterized by many as a replenishment station for any yacht. At the port of Skiathos guests can find shops with marine, diving and fishing equipment. If your boat is damaged there are careening facilities for boats up to 15 meters length and 2 meters draught. Other repairs on your engine to electrical or electronic components can be achieved in the same space. The marina provides electricity, water, phone and ice.
This harbor provides shelter all round summer. In the marine at the “Taxi” area make sure that your anchor has caught well as the meltemi (NE) may cause you damage. If a problem is encountered in the marine area call on your VHF the channel 12, the Port Authority, for information and possible assistance. At the port of Skiathos you can find everything you need regarding to supplies, medical care and, generally, cover any other emergency.
Tsougkrias island
In case of NE meltemi (wind) protection can be found on the west coast of the island Tsougrias. The stigma you will follow to find the wooden pier is at 38 degrees 07′.707, 023 degrees 29′.537.
Koukounaries beach/port
It provides shelter round the year but spaces are limited. Choose to go early before the sun sets and all the boats return from their daily excursions.
Ksanemos – Korakoneri (Megas Gialos) – Lalaria
In those three beaches you can find shelter from western to south-easterly winds, but you must pay attention to the bottom and the rocks. The most harmless beach is Megas Gialos and the anchor holds well. Finally at Lalaria you must watch where you exit! Select the northwest part of the beach, before the rocks, where you can take the boat outside on the beach.
Beware of the reef located in Kastronisi, 200 meters from the beach, which sometimes appears and sometimes does not.
