What is SW?
Startup Weekend is a 54-hour weekend event, during which groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more pitch ideas for new startup companies, form teams around those ideas, and work to develop a working prototype, demo or presentation by Sunday evening. Startup Weekend has grown into an organization with a global presence. As of July 2015, Startup Weekend has reached 135 countries, involving over 210,000 entrepreneurs. Startup Weekend is run by Techstars.
When and where will SW take place? Startup Weekend Larisa will be held on 13, 14 and 15 May in the T.E.I. of Thessaly (www.teilar.gr) in Larissa.
Who can participate? Anyone over 18 can participate, especially creative people who love innovation. No specific requirement is needed for the competition (e.g. being a student or a professional etc.). We invite people from all over Greece with innovative ideas that will form teams and will work to develop that idea into a working prototype, demo, or presentation and will highlight the concepts of creativity, entrepreneurship, cooperation and innovation throughout the weekend. All you need is enthusiasm and the desire to create something unique!
Will there be any prizes? Every participant is a winner, but there will be some special prizes for the winning teams. Those prizes include: technological equipment, training, legal and accounting support, business guidance, coordination and networking etc. Even though some teams may fail to qualify the requirements of the judges in order to win, they will be able to keep following their dream and implement their ideas by using the experience and advice from the contest.
