Aspropotamos river is the upper part of Acheloos. It’s an athletic river in excellent natural landscape with considerable slope, flat and fast that can give 2nd and 3rd degree passes grade. Divided into four tracks, all within the mountaintops Koziakas and South Pindos.
To reach the starting points we cross the beautiful villages of Trikala, Elati, Pertouli and the skiing center of Pertouli and we continue to villages Neraidohori and Agia Paraskevi in compatible and comfortable roads.
Routes
3 Rivers area – Bridge Alexiou
This route has 1st and 2nd degree passes of difficulty.
Duration: 2 hours.
This is a route with narrow passes and steep turns. 2nd and 3rd degree passes of difficulty.
Duration: 1:15 hours with an average volume of water.
Bridge Alexiou – Dam Mesohora
The third route it’s longer and runs from the end of the second route. Has passes of second and third degree of difficulty. It’s a beautiful route between rocks and crystal clear waters of Aspropotamos.
Duration: approximately 3 hours.
Mesohora Dam – Dam Sykias
A route through rocks, waterfalls, canyons, old abandoned bridges and turquoise waters with consecutive passes second and third degree of difficulty. Duration 2-2:30 hours.
What to do
A rafting excursion to Aspropotamos can be combined with a visit to Ski Resort of Pertouli, hiking to mount Koziakas starting from Elati village, horse riding, climbing in the area of village Pyli and at the crag in Mouzaki located nearby.
