The great international festival of Thessaly for comics, illustration and street art returns for the 8th year at Mill of Pappas, with more than 140 artists, 5 exhibitions, 3 murals, more than 30 actions, international guests, animation, gaming, workshops, stand-up comedy, lives and DJ sets.
From Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September 2026, LAComicsFestival Vol.8 returns to Larissa for another three days dedicated to comics, illustration, street art and contemporary creation, with free entry to all actions.
More than 140 artists and creators from Greece and abroad will meet at Mylos tou Pappas, in an event that combines exhibitions, talks, workshops, children’s actions, animation, gaming, music and public art.
The main international guest is the Portuguese illustrator and street artist Francisco Fonseca, creator of the official LACF8 poster. Architecture, houses, streets and cities are at the core of his highly recognizable work, where real urban landscapes are transformed into worlds full of small stories and details. The main solo exhibition “Different Roads” will be presented at Pappas’ Mill, while in the workshop “Building a Miniature City with Paper” participants will design and construct small paper buildings, which will gradually be united into a collective miniature city.
Fonseca will also create a new large mural in Larissa, continuing one of the LAComicsFestival’s constant pursuits, that each event leaves a permanent artistic imprint on the public space. The new work will be added to the murals of creators who have been hosted in previous events and have now become part of the city’s urban landscape. Taxis (Dimitris Trimintzios), one of the most recognizable Greek street artists, is also returning to Larissa, following his previous participation and the mural he left in the city. HooDSpirit completes this year’s trio of mural artists, while among the international guests we also meet the Dutch illustrator Eva Halfers.

Soloup has a special presence, which, in parallel with the exhibition “BAVEL”, participates with a presentation on the path from the “Collector” to “Babel” and with a workshop on the language and communicative power of comics.
MORE THAN 30 ACTIVITIES
The program includes more than 30 activities. Book and graphic novel presentations, comics and illustration workshops, origami, paper constructions, portraiture, doodles, graffiti, creative storytelling, gaming and discussions around modern forms of creation. As every year, our little friends have a special place. Since the first festival events, the main goal has been for children not to simply be in front of art as spectators, but to actively participate in the creative process. Thus, this year too they will be able to
design, paint, build and experiment through children’s workshops and special animation screenings on all three days.
FROM LARISSA TO INTERNATIONAL CONSOLES
The gaming section is of particular interest this year, as two groups based in Larissa and with an international orientation meet in the same program. Larissa-based creator Aris Dragonis, founder of Dragonis Games, presents his journey from 3D art to the creation of The Shore, Eresys and Necrophosis. This path reached a significant first this year with Necrophosis: Full Consciousness,
Aris Dragonis became the first Greek developer to release a videogame worldwide both digitally and in physical form for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Alongside him, Behind the Hump, an independent studio also based in Larissa and the first game-development studio in Thessaly, presents Forgotten Eras, the new side-scrolling action-adventure developed in Unreal Engine 5 and drawing its universe from Slavic folklore. The game is currently in development, with plans for PC and other platforms.
At LACF8’s GameSpot, the audience will have the opportunity to experience both Necrophosis and Forgotten Eras up close, two different productions that show that the contemporary creative scene of Larissa can now appeal to an audience far beyond the city’s borders.
ANIMATION SCREENINGS IN COLLABORATION WITH TAF
For another year, the collaboration with the Thessaloniki Animation Festival / TAF continues, with children’s animation screenings throughout the three days of the event. The selected screenings bring the younger audience into contact with modern productions and different moving image techniques, in a collaboration that now has a permanent place in the festival’s program.
STAND-UP COMEDY, LIVE AND DJ SETS
On Friday, September 4, Cine Mylos hosts Elias Fountoulis and Angelos Spiliopoulos with the stand-up comedy show “Toso Oso”. The two comedians have a long-standing joint presence on stages in Greece and abroad, combining personal stories, observational humor, puns and two different comedic perspectives in a joint show. The music continues on Saturday with a DJ set by Antonis Batzias and the live event “Rock Wave” with Screaming Dead Balloons and Fagus, while on Sunday the event
ends with the Closing Party “You’ll Know When You’re There” and DJ sets.
140+ CREATORS IN THE ARTIST ALLEY
At the heart of the event remains the large Artist Alley, with more than 140 comic artists, illustrators, designers, self-publishers and independent creators from Greece and abroad. Comics, prints, zines, books, original works and personal projects create for three days an open space for direct meeting of the audience with the very people who produce modern iconographic culture.
LACF8’S KAR’KAMBYRA
This year Vol.8 also gets its own collector’s beer. In collaboration with Surmena Brew, a limited anniversary batch of “KAR’KAMBYRA” is being created, with a special collector’s label dedicated to the 8th edition of LAComicsFestival, which will be available exclusively during the three-day festival, adding another special collaboration to this year’s event. For eight years now, LAComicsFestival has continued to bring together creators and audiences, to open space for new ideas and different forms of art, and to leave, through its actions and murals, a piece of each event back in the city itself.
