We begin our tour to the west side of Lake Plastira from the hydroelectric dam. The dam was build in 1959 and since then, blocks the waters of Tavropos river and floods the area called Nevropoli creating Lake Plastira. On one of the two sides of the dam there are small
shops with local products such as honey, sweats and herbs you may also find some souvenirs.
As we leave behind the dam of lake Plastira, we find signs at the right side of the road pointing at educational forest Belokomiti and also at our left side for the ecological hiking paths. At the crossroad to Zigogianeika if we turn left the road will lead us to the Lake’s observatory. The view from up there is astonishing from one side there is the view of the lake and from the other side the mountain tops of Pindus. Heading back to the crossroad and continue our root to village Belokomiti, right before the village we find the turn for Karitsa and Abbey Pelikiti. Belokomitis is olny a few kilometers far from Neochori wich is a head village build few meters above the lake shore, providing a beautiful view of the lake. In Neochori are located most of the Hotels, rooms and villas.
Once again we leave behind us another beautiful village, in this case Neochori, after a few kilometers at our right side we see the sign for the Botanical Garden. If you re a nature lover you will like this place, in the Botanical Garden you can find informations about flora and fauna of the area of Lake Plastira.
Next stop Kalivia Pezoulas and Pezoula beach. Here is the most common beach of the lake if you want to go for swimming, also Pezoula beach is the starting point of hiking and bicicling roots.
After Pezoula we meet the village Fylakti.
If we take the left turn heading to Neraida we will find the Ski center of Agrafa. The road for the Ski center is open all year even when it is snowing, the only parts of the road that need attention are the ones that are hidden from the Sun, the road at these points has more snow. The distance is long unti the Ski center but once you re there you will understand why it is worth the way. The beauty of the natural landscape will take you mind and bring you closer to nature. Next to the ski center is the shelter which can host 30 people.
If from Kalivia Pezoulas follow the road straight ahead and after the bridge take the left turn we will reach the village Tsifliki which now it is called Kryoneri.
The next village after Kryoneri is Kerasia. Here the altitude is 900 meters and from Kerasia we can see the river Kerasiotis and the known village Anthochori.
Before we enter Anthochori we find the old watermill and the path that leads to the waterfall. The path it is easy and takes you through the woods in a beautiful scenery and after about 40 minutes you will reach the waterfall.
