Maritsa
History: It has been operating since 1954, at first as a café, and is located on the busiest street of the island, Megali Strata. It has now passed into the hands of the second generation, the daughter of Uncle Giannis and Maritsa, Anna.
She serves: She is famous for her amazing strapatsada with their own eggs, but also for her famous teroptaria, the oil pie made from fluffy dough and served with dog cheese, and for her fantastic meatballs with plenty of mint and coarsely chopped onion. There are other delicacies that Anna masterfully makes, such as the crispy pumpkin meatballs and the delicious omelette with local potatoes. For dessert, try her rice pudding.

In recent years, son Nicholas has joined the game.
Serve: The kitchen is taken over by Mrs. Zoe, Yiannis’ wife, and she will bring you lirakia (sweet and sweet Shiathite zucchini), octopus with vinegar, stingray salad, grilled tuna, cuttlefish eggs, cuttlefish cooked with zucchini, amazing shrimp meatballs, boiled shrimp, fava with anchovies, and other tsipouromezedes.
