The bridge of De Chirico is just 500 meters from the station of Milies and its access on foot. It’s a unique construction and the only one in thw world because the rails do curve on the carrier of the bridge is linear. Its name of the designer Evaristo De Chirico (Giorgio de Chirico’s father), is also known as Bridge of Taxiarhis because the stream that runs below it and built by the German blacksmith Snyder.
Internally the lines are trajectories that supports the rails to keep the train in line.
Also amazing are the works buttress of the mountain with stone harmonizing the environment with the technology of good workmanship and excellent sensitivity for the environment.
It is the first multi-national project that took place in Greece where people of many nationalities worked to complete the entire line that passes above the bridge. Worked Greek and Italian workers, Belgian and German engineers and French and Italian designers integrating along the line 16 km in 3 years!
