Like any one-day getaway a key component for the beginning of a good day is a good coffee. So we head straight to Asclepius Street at the city of Trikala which is full of cafes and entertainment shops is full of people.
Immediately after we go up to the city fortress and the old clock. The fort although many times restored due to various disasters was estimated that it was built during the classical period. Currently to Varousi Trikala fort is at the stage of restoration, nevertheless we do our walk in the path that was recently completed which encircles the walls of the fortress. It is worthwhile to climb the stairs of the old clock and reach the top of the balcony, located at a height of about 30 meters. From there the view of the entire city and the Thessaly plain is magnificent.
Next stop the Zoo situated on the hill of Prophet Elias. In Trikala Zoo hosts a variety of animals, some of which are deer, Skyros ponies.
For our lunch we head to Manavika district, with its traditional architecture and its picturesque taverns offering delicious food and local delicacies.
Our afternoon tour includes the narrow streets of the neighborhood and ends at Litheos river that crosses the city. The area of Lethaeos River is a place of concentration and relaxation of the inhabitants of Trikala, and visitors attraction.
Trikala is a city that combines the old with the new. The narrow streets of the old fortress of Trikala and harmony with modern Trikala. All attractions are in the city and a short distance between them, this makes them easily accessible. A trip to our Trikala always leave with a better mood and a desire to return soon close.
