Horefto is a charming seaside Pelion village in the coast of the Aegean Sea at eastern Pelion, serving as the port village of Zagora which is in short distance. The village's history is closely related with Zagora since being its port, it was here, that the famous Zagorian ships embarked for their commercial activities in Europe and Asia.

It is an ideal summer destination for travellers as it perfectly combines mountain and sea featuring verdant vegetation and one the most beautiful beaches of eastern Pelion. The lengthy beach of Horefto is about 2.5 km long and has fine sand with crystal blue waters.
How did the village got its name? An ancient tradition says it is from the dance (Greek:Horos) the people made to celebrate their victory against the Persian army when Xerxes fleet was destroyed in Ipnous (the area today is called Palia Mitzela). Or the other version that claims that the name is from the dances during the fair of Agiou Ioanni tou Prodromou (St. John the Baptist) on the 29th of August.

During your stay in the village, visit the old church of Agios Nikolas build upon the ruins of an ancient temple, and the church of Agiou Ioanni tou Prodromou. Also walk along the coast and admire the beauty God gave to this area. Include into hours of fishing since the area is perfect for, swim in the crystal clear blue waters of the beach and taste delightful seafood at one of the taverns.
Close to Horefto are the isolated beaches Parisaina and Analipsi, ideal for relaxation and isolation since they have not been developed for tourism. Finally you can organize an excursion towards the area of Palia Mitzela (Old Mitzela) that has amazing sea caves, thhe only prerequisite is having a boat.

And don’t forget, Horefto was the place where the great Greek poet G.Drosinis inspired for his poetic collection “Galini” (Serenity). The serenity and tranquility of the landscape is what attracts visitors.
